I am banging my head on a problem with integrating Project Server2003 into
Sharepoint Portal Server 2003. I cannot provision a site from Project Server
to SPS 2003. I can manually create a site with the Project Workspace
template, but I cannot link it back to project. When I try to manually
provision or link a project to a sharepoint site, I get the error "Error
occured when creating site. Site does not seem to exist."
Under PWA ADMIN | MANAGE WINDOWS SHAREPOINT SERVICES | MANAGE WINDOWS
SHAREPOINT SERVICES SITES everything looks greyed out, but I can see the
Public Documents and it is tied to
http://serverA/sites/MS_ProjectServer_PublicDocuments. Other projects do not
have a site linked to them.
Under PWA ADMIN | MANAGE WINDOWS SHAREPOINT SERVICES | CONNECT TO SHAREPOINT
SERVER I have the Central Administration URL http://serverA:21504, which is
the correct url for administration of my installation of Sharepoint, and
Sites are located at http://serverA:80/sites. I also have Public Documents
at http://serverA/sites/MS_ProjectServer_PublicDocuments. I have verified
Project server can see these sites.
I can go to the SYNCHRONIZE WEB ADMINISTRATOR ACOUNTS and successfully
synchronize administrator accounts. I use two administrator accounts SRV-SPS
and SRV-PROJECT. Both accounts are a memeber of administrators and both
accounts have administrator priviledges to SPS, Project, and SQL.
I can go into SPS and create a new site and select the Project Workspace
template with no problems. The new site has all the Project Web Parts and I
can go in to the Web Part and tweak them to open a url from PWA, but I
cannot link the site to Project Server. I have created a site with the same
name of the project and cannot tie the site to the project and if I go into
the site and try to synchronize the site with Project Server, I get the
error "The server running Windows Sharepoint Services failed to connect to
the Project Server."
The weird thing is I can create a Project Workspace through SPS and I can
see the Project Workspace template in SPS. If I go to the PWA ADMIN | MANAGE
WINDOWS SHAREPOINT SERVICES | SITE PROVISIONING SETTINGS the Site Template
field is blank. If I click on the drop down, the list is blank.
I can go into PWA and verify all the SPS configuration with out any
problems, but SPS and PWA don't seem to be talking when I try to provision a
site.
I installed SPS with SQL 2000 SP3 first on a Windows 2003 server. I then
installed Project server and extended the default web site. I have removed
project server and SPS from the server and reinstalled from the begining and
still have the same problem.
I have seen several people with the same problem, but none of their
resolutions have helped. Has anyone seent anything like this before or know
of anything to look at to correct this?
Thanks
