I have been studying the discussion group forum in hopes it would help me
solve a Outlook problem. I see you have posted several times and seem to be
quite knowledgeable in most aspects of Outlook 2003. I’m an office manager at
a large Dish Network retailer in Lake City. I just recently took the job as
office manager and the office records were a mess. I promptly installed MS
Office 2003 and started an Outlook “Office†.pst file containing my
customers, Business contacts, etc.
The amended the basic Outlook form with a Page 2. This page contains the
data that I need on each customer namely their Dish Network account Number,
Promo Claim agreement Number, and most importantly the receiver(s)
information for that customer. i.e.( R00, S00 and serial number) Each
receiver ( they can have up to 4) has a R00 # , S00 # and a Serial Number
( they can have up to 4) I set up (user defined fields in this folder) as
follows R00(1), R00(2), S00(1), S00(2), etc. I fill in the information based
on what the customer had installed in their system.
Problem: Dish Network has multifaceted agencies. Some deal with the R00
exclusively, some deal with the Dish Network Account Number, etc. I needed to
be able to search my outlook file with whatever the piece of information I
have to find the customer it corresponds with to be able to then see their
account number or address or phone number, etc
Every time I try to search for customer when I have any “One Piece of
information†like the R00 # my search returns “ No results Found†!!! What
have I done wrong?
Problem number #2 – Is there a way I can input all the R00 numbers into a
single R00 text box with having to have four separate fields named R00(1),
R00(2), R00(3), R00(4) there is no telling which title the R00 number is
under which forces me to search for R00(1) = xxxxxxxx & R00(2) = xxxxxx, etc
in the Advanced Search>Advance(tab)>Define fields . IS GETS VERY TEDIOUS AND
TAKES FOREVER.
I also notice that "user-defined fields" are not included in the in the
advanced search only "frequently-used fields"…which I think, is why my
searches are returning no results. Is there a way I can get outlook to search
ALL FIELDS (including user-defined in this folder) to find the customer
account I need?
Sure would appreciate any help you can give me and I would be forever in
your debt. ….not to mention the hours of work you’ll save me if I can get
Outlook search and find like I need it to.
Anxiously awaiting your reply,
