I need to sort and count a list that looks like this. There are 116 entries
that change on a weekly basis.
STYLE SIZE

4221 M
5824 KH
5824 M
202 S
5824 L
122 XL
5824 M
5824 KH

What i need is a result and count that will look like this
STYLE SIZE
122 XL
Count 1

202 S
Count 1

422O M
Count 2

5824 KH
Count 2

5824 L
Count 1

5824 M

Why not use a pivot table (PT) for this?
Its quite ideal for what you're after.
Just a couple of clicks and you're done.

Here's the steps (for excel 97):

Assuming your sample list is in A1:B10

Click on any cell within the list
Click Data>Pivot Table Report
Click Next>Next to go to Step 3 of PT wizard

Drag Style to the Row area and drop
Drag Size to the Row area (drop below Style)
Drag Size to the Data area and drop
(The caption shd read "Count of Size")

Click Finish

The pivot table will be created in a new sheet to the left of your list.

It will appear as:

Count of SIZE
STYLE SIZE Total
122 XL 1
122 Total 1
202 S 1
202 Total 1
4220 M 1
4220 Total 1
4221 M 1
4221 Total 1
5824 KH 2
L 1
M 2
5824 Total 5
Grand Total 9
