help with taking out unnecessary spaces in a cell

everyone's been very helpful. wondering if someone can help me take out
unnecessary spaces in a cell.

a b c
1 abcd____
2 jik______
3 oopp____

the underscores are spaces contained in the cell... is it possible to just
have the text from column a pasted into column b without unncessary spaces?

Assuming all the spaces are at the end of the cells in column A --

Select column A
Choose Data>Text to Columns
Select Delimited, click Next
Add a check mark to Space, click Next
For the Destination, select $B$1
Click Finish
