Help with "The name or distribtion list has been deleted..."

I have been getting this error message when attempting to send an e-mail and
typing the name of a distribution list in the addressee line, "The name or
distribtion list has been deleted and is no longer a valid Address Book
entry. The operation failed. An object could not be found." If I attempt
to send an e-mail from the open contact, the distribution list works
correctly. However, if I type the name of the distribution list in a email
that is already open or I am attempting to forward, then I get the above
error. I am not sure if this because I imported the distribution list or
not. Any suggestion?

When you start typing in the name of the DL, does an autocomplete entry show? If yes, use the arrow to select it and delete it.
