Help with training levels

Hello all,

I teach junior high and hardly have time to get on the computer for just
"me" anymore. We are working on aligning our curriculum with state
standards (pa) and I need Microsoft's definitive list of what
constitutes beginning Word skills versus intermediate Word skills versus
advanced Word skills.

I tried to hunt on the Microsoft site, but there's too much there to
sift through quickly. Can anyone help? Is there a list of these levels
I can get hold of quickly? I fear many would rather take the easy road
than believe that what I'm covering in junior high is what the kids
should be able to do and would rather cut the curriculum. What we need
to do is expand it. Each student only has any computer class, with a
business teacher, for the first time in grade 7, and only for two 9
weeks--1 to learn to type and 1 to learn Word--then nothing till grade 9.

Much thanks.

I don't think there's any set rule about what constitutes beginning or
intermediate Word skills, but you might find it instructive to read the
microsoft.public.word.docmanagement newsgroup for a few days (or read
several months' worth of posts already there). You'll get a sense of the
questions that are asked over and over again (the FAQs), and that will give
you some idea of some of the basics you should make sure your students know
(and the things they may be unlikely to be able to figure out for
themselves).

Beyond that, I'm convinced that the most useful skills to learn (whether
beginning or intermediate) are the ones you actually need, so you might do
well to devise a sample project that would require/incorporate the
techniques the students would need to create a simple student theme or term
paper.

For the really basic basics you should be sure to teach, see
