Help!!! Made a simple web page (my 1st) to present files for download to team
on my Comcast website using Frontpage 2003. Trying to update a file and
seeing: 500 Internal Server Error
Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or
misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the
server administrator, webmaster@mydomain and inform them of the time the
error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the
error. More information about this error may be available in the server error
log. Apache/1.3.27 Server at home.comcast.net Port 80

I don't think I changed anything although you can never tell....

Any suggestions or help available?

Have the file saved in Frontpage. Tried going in to Comcast and removing the
fornt-page extension support and turning off and then turning web page back
on and trying to re-piblish without success, but the last version of the page
is still there and intact.

Comcast points me here.
They have been of no help and say they do not support Frontpage.
Spoke with online support who was unhelpful and dismissed me without any
further questions.
Any suggestions???

A 500 error is a generic server error - you will need to determine the
details of the error, and Comcast is the best way to do that.
It is unclear whether the error occurred when you were publishing or
testing the page - if testing the problem could be server-side code used
in the page. A link to it might help to diagnose the problem.

If Comcast provide the FrontPage extensions (you mention turning them
off and on) then Comcast support FrontPage, at least as far as
Publishing is concerned. With the "help" you get from Comcast, I would
suggest a new host...

That error is typically caused by a space problem on the server. It may
be the hard disc is full, or your allocation is full.

Either re-install the extensions or ask your host. The folder _vti_bin
is a virtual folder created by the extensions when they are installed,
and the files and folders in it are essential for using FrontPage
extensions, in particular, _vti_bin/_vti_aut/author.exe is used when
publishing and editing.
