Help with Website

Hello,
I've recently created a website using Publisher 2003. I have managed to
upload the site and the index files. However, only the first page is loading.
No pictures work, none of the other pages load, etc. I noticed that for some
reason, either when saving the file as index.htm or during the file upload
via FTP, the referenced index file names changed on the index.htm file (for
example page001 became page360, etc.) Now the pics and additional pages are
pointing to file names that don't exist....HELP! Do I have to rename all of
these files or am I missing a simple method to correct the problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I'm new to this!! Thanks!

Chances are that you did not upload all the html files produced by
Publisher. When you Publish to the Web, Publisher produces an index.htm file
which is your homepage, AND an index_files folder that contains all the
supporting graphics and your other pages in your website. Upload the
index_files folder and chances are your site will work. If not, post back
with the URL of your site.

Thank you for the suggestion. I did, however, upload the index_files folder.
The issue is that the referenced name of those files changed. In the original
pulisher format, the website pointed to page001 (and page001.htm is the file
in the index_file folder.) Once I uploaded the website file (index.htm) those
referenced file names changed. Now instead of pointing to page001.htm it
points to page360.htm, which doesn't exist. And the same goes for every
picture and page on the site.

As I said, I'm very new to this and it's not easy to explain, so I hope that
makes some sense. The website is:
www.oakridgealliance.com . Again, thank you for your any help you can give!

Christy,

Did you by chance 'Save' your files and upload them, rather than
"Publish" them and then upload those files? Of course, since I don't
know Pub that well, I may be out in left field when I'm supposed to be
batting!

Hi Mike,
Nope...I didn't save those files prior to uploading. Once I uploaded the
index.htm (the actual website file,) Publisher created those files in a
folder titled "index_files" in .htm format. I then uploaded that entire
folder. I'm sure I'm doing something in the wrong order or failing to take a
step to prevent this renaming (or hopefully something easily rectified!) But
I sure can't find any other references out there that address this particular
problem.

Any ideas are much appreciated....if you are out in left field instead of
batting, I still haven't even made it to the game! ;-)
Thanks,
Christy

Hi David,
You were exactly right....the index_file folder that I was seeing at the
same level was an old one and my updated index_file folder loaded in the
wrong directory. Many, many thanks!

Perhaps you uploaded the index_files folder but there certainly is no sign
of it now. Perhaps you loaded it in the wrong directory on your host. The
index_files folder should be at the same level as the index.htm file.

You say that the Page001.htm is what is there. If it was, then this link
would take you there:
http://www.oakridgealliance.com/index_files/Page001.htm

And if the index_files folder was there, and in the correct directory, then
the image beside the "Welcome" on your home page would load and the image
would be located here:
http://www.oakridgealliance.com/index_files/image7031.jpg

None of the additional pages or images that would be contained in the
index_files folder are available, which tells me the folder is not
there...or its in the wrong place on your host. If it is there, then perhaps
it is an old index_files folder that was not overwritten when you updated
your website.

I don't know how you are uploading your files, but log on to your server
either by FTP, HTTP or by logging on directly. Then via your control panel
on the host, find the index.htm file and see if the index_files folder is at
the same level. If it is, then delete the index.htm file and the index_files
folder and start over. If the index_fiels folder is not at the same level in
the directory on your host, then look around in any other folders you might
have that are your host folders. Perhaps you uploaded your index_files
folder into one of them. Do not delete any of the other files or folders on
your host....just the index.htm file and the index_files folder if you can
find it. Publish to the Web from your Publisher document and upload fresh
html files.

David,

When I responded, the Page001.htm file was there! So I suspect she
uploaded just the front page and not the index_files folder. Now when I
visit her site I can see the page360.htm file in her directory.
