Help with Word 2003 - (Not Responding)

Out of the clear blue, my Word 2003 program gets hung up. I open the
program, open a file (any file), begin to move within the document, and the
program goes to (Not Responding). What can I do?

It suggests a partially corrupt printer driver. But see
