I recently bought a new Compac Presario s5300nx. The guy who set it up for me put on his own MS Office XP PROFESSIONAL program. I did not want this and do not want this. He refuses to change it to the Home Edition for me that came with my computer. Can I do this myself? The Professional version is set to deactivate in about 5 days. I don't want to lose all my Word docs. Help!

You appear to be a tad confused - there is no Office suite called Office XP
Home - *Windows* XP Home is an operating system and does *not* contain any
Office applications. Now, are you referring to Office XP Professional or, in
reality, do you mean *WINDOWS* XP Professional?

This isn't a new system, is it? It might be new to you, but it's not factory
new. Am I correct in thinking this is a second hand system? If it was his
own software (and he has it installed on his own system at home) then it's
illegal for you to have it installed on yours (it's a breach of the EULA).
In selling the system the seller is obligated to include *all* software that
was included at the point-of-sale (i.e. when he bought it).

Any software that came with your computer is considered to be OEM and is
tied to that computer forever - you may not install it on any other system.

If this doesn't answer your question could you please post back and clarify
what you mean?
