how can you capture the windows explorer screen and paste
it into paint

You should have a Print Screen key on your keyboard.

Pressing Print Screen copies your display to the clipboard.
Pressing ALT-Print Screen copies the open window {in this case Excel} to
the clipboard.

Then you can paste to any application, including Paint, that can accept
images.

Press Alt-PrtSc keys to copy active window (explorer) into the
clipboard, this go to Paint, then press ctrl-v to paste into Paint.
