I must of erased a file called Data.bak . I tried to
reload it from the disk, but it tells me it's missing on
there. I need to get this up and running quickly. I
have a large project to do and I'm starting to get
pinched. Someone help.

Micheal,
Files with .bak as an extension are backup files. You will not find this
file on the Project (ore any application's) installation disk. Backup
files are something the user creates (or an application creates if an
option to do auto-backups is set). In Project the auto-backup is set
under File/Save As/Tools/Save Options.

The file you should be looking for is the file named "Data" unless the
name was changed since the backup was made.

Hope this helps.

When re-installing Project, it tries to copy a file
called data.bak :

Error 1038. Setup cannot find the required file
D:\files\pfiles\msoffice\appdata\ms\office\data\data.bak

I'm in a real bind now.

All help is appreciated.

Micheal,
I just did a file search on my hard drive for anything with a .bak
extension. Only two files were found, neither was a data.bak file and
neither was associated with MS office. Which version of Project are you
using (I have 98, 2000 and 2003 installed)?

Maybe someone else has an idea, I don't.

I believe it's 2003. I also did a search on another
workstation with it and it's not there either. I just
can't understand why it keeps asking for it.
