hiccupping

rob

I installed Office XP over windows 98. I have a pentium II
and 128 mb of ram. I keep getting hiccuping with my PC.
That is the sound that is makes.

Is my pentium chip large enough?

Do I have enough ram to run xp?

Hi Rob,

If it is really making a hiccupping sound then I would say someone has
played an early April Fool's joke on you.

Press Ctrl + Alt + Del, display your Task Manager, and check the
running tasks.

Rob,

It could be that you do not have enough ram 128mb is not much these days.

Also...do you have a virus checker running? that could be slowing things
down a lot.

Is the hiccup sound coming from the actual computer?

Cheers

Rob,

I am successfully running Win2K with a 233MHz P2, and 48MB of RAM. Slow,
but it does work. Can't do a hevck of a lot with this small/old a system,
but it does serve as a platform for scanning and faxing, and doing a few
other lightweight things. Haven't tried to install Word/Office, however.
