Hidden cells still show data

I have set up a worksheet that has 3 cells that I want to
hide the data. I right-click on the cells, go to format
cells, then go to Protection. I click hidden and click Ok,
but the data is still there. I even switched it over to
protected sheet mode.

The purpose of Hidden on the Protection tab is to prevent users from seeing
a formula. Enter a formula in a cell, give the cell the Hidden protection,
and then use Tools, Protection, Protect sheet. The formula will not appear
in the formula bar.

The most common way to make a cell appear empty is to give it the custom ;;;
number format. Another way is to change its font color to white.

As Jim said, the hidden component is to hide a formula. If you have a cell formatted as hidden, and the sheet is protected, the user can see the result of a formula, but not the formula itself

In the number and font format options the user won't be able to see the number in the cell, but they will still be able to see the number in the formula bar

If you wabt the numbers to be completel hidden you will need to hide the entire column or row in which they reside. One other option is to move them to another sheet and then hide that sheet

Good Luck
