Hidden font size

When I type a doc, the font is 12 pt using my normal template. But if I go
back to insert words, a return brings me to a 10 pt. font size. Happens on
every new doc I create.

How do I get rid of that font size as Word doesn't have the "reveal codes"
function that WP used to?

What is the paragraph sytle applied when you first start
typing in a new document and then after you press return?

Pressing return (Enter) starts a new paragraph in Word.
It sounds like your default paragraph style is set to
apply a new style as the following paragraph. A style
formatted with 10 pt type. Check Format>Style>Modify
Style and ensure that "Style for following paragraph" is
the same as the default style.
