Hidden Section Breaks

I'm formatting a long document and when I look at my
headers, they jump from Section 7 to Section 12. When I
look at the breaks, I can only find one. This is a
problem because my Section 12 header should be formatted
differently from my Section 7 header. Even though it says
it's not the same as previous, some of those "hidden"
sections must be "same as previous," because Section 7
changes with Section 12. Does anyone know how to view and
get rid of those extra sections? I've tried all the
traditional methods.

Thanks.

Have you changed orientation or number of columns somewhere between Section
7 and Section 12? Those will cause section breaks. The breaks are easier to
spot (and remove if necessary) in Normal view. If the sections don't have
accessible headers/footers, you can insert page breaks to make them
accessible, then remove the page breaks when the problem is cleared up.

Also, check that you don't have deleted section breaks in tracked changes
that are not being displayed. Word always seems to choke on that when it
comes to section formatting, such as headers and footers, margins, etc.
