Hidden Web Server Files

Hidden folders were used when a website I maintain was created. For example,
_content or _auxillary. I had to reinstall Frontpage and create the website
on my drive again, and I can't remember how to get those hidden webserver
folders to show up! I did the Tools, Site Settings, Advanced, Show hidden
files and folders. No luck. There's another setting, somewhere that affects
this.

Help!

When I open the remote webserver site directly using open site I can see the
hidden folders. When I open the local site first then the remote, I can't
see the folders. Arrrgghhh. So I've been copying files over manually.
Something is just plain wrong!

How are you opening your local site?
Does the local site folder have a globe on it?
