hide completed tasks

In 2003 you could select a task and select hide it from your view. In
2007 they don't have this feature. Does anyone have a work around for
this? The only setting I have seen is under the server settings in
which you can change the number of days forward and back to show
overdue, completed and yet to be done task assignments. This seems
like a step backward in 07. Can't I simply change the view to filter
out those items? If so, where is that set. The manage views under
server settings is a vastly stripped down version of WSS view editing.

thanks,

You are limited to the options you have already described. When the team
member has selected the "Current tasks" option on the My Tasks page, the
system will automatically hide completed tasks after the number of days
defined by the Project Server administrator. There's no way to filter
non-completed tasks. Yes, it probably does seem like a step backward, but
there's not much we can do about this. Hope this helps.

Our work around for this oversight on MS's part is to add a field to your MS
Project, called Published. You can publish/unpublish each task if you are
owner of the project and thus help manage what each resource on your project
is able to see. In some cases, our staff has 3 pages of tasks...makes
updating your tasks and timesheet completion very difficult. If the PM's use
the publish field for their tasks, this could and can simplify things for the
team members.

Hope this helps.
