Hide Default Field in Issues (PWA)

D

Danila

My company is using MS Project Server 2007 and Project Web Access
We're at the stage of customizing the default workspace in PWA.
Here's the question:
Can I hide a default field "Category" in List type "Issues"?
I do not need some of the fields when using Issues and I don't want users to
fill them in when creating an issue.

Here's a brief info on what I've already tried:
1. Deleting the default field from Issues.
After that I get an error which is described here:
http://www.epmfaq.com/ssanderlin/pr...oying-a-customized-project-workspace-template
and here:
http://blogs.msdn.com/mohits/archiv...ing-wss-sync-job-failed-but-not-blocking.aspx

2. Hiding a field in Site Settings
I've tried to hide it from PWA -> Actions -> Site Settings
But Issue list there is a different one, it even has different columns from
the Issues in Project Workspace.
For exapmle I hide field Category in Site Settings, then creat a new List
Issues. And when creating a new issue I don't see the field Category.
But it still appers in Project Workspce.

Thanks in advance.

Danila,

I would advise against editing the Issues and Risks lists in the Project
Workspace template as OLAP cubes use data from these lists for reporting
purposes. I have explored editing some of the list values myself to be more
meaningful (category 1,2,3 for example) but was advised that this could
cause problems.

I have taken a look at my instance of PWA and a Workspace and there is no
option to "hide" the site column from the form that is displayed when
creating an issue or a risk, you can of course elect not to display it in a
view but that doesn't really help - this might require more in-depth editing
of the form in SharePoint, it might be worth asking if it is possible to
hide fields/site columns from forms in the sharepoint design and
customization newsgroup.
