hide tasks

We've had people hide tasks in their 'View my Tasks' task sheet view that had
hours posted to them.

Unfortunately, when an admin or manager goes into the 'View Resource
Assignments' view for that same resource, those same tasks are still 'hidden'
and there doesn't seem to be a way to know that unless you compare it to the
Proj Pro schedule using the resource usage view.

With mgrs trying to report actual hours over the last quarter, say, if they
take the PWA View to generate their report, they may be under reporting time
logged.

While it's obviously this is a training issue for team members and is being
addressed, is their anything else that can be done. It seems to me that
hidden tasks on the time sheet should NOT be hidden in the 'view resource
assignments'. Does MS consider this an issue?

THanks,

Hi Mark,

you hit a good point with the "hide" task. Once hidden the only way that you
can unhide the task, is if you reasign the resource to the task and republish
the project. This may help you to make the task visible again.

Clearly, I would concider this a "half done" functionality. I would expect
to "unhide" tasks as well, but unfortunalty there is no such functionality in
2003.

I actually disable the "hide" functionality when I deploy timesheets. ( you
can set this in the Security of PWA) This avoids confusion in the first place
:)
Hope this helps

It seems, at the very least, the assignments view should display an alert
that 'this resource has hidden tasks', so that the manager trying to compile
act. work data would know that a republish is needed to ensure his/her
reporting is accurate.

As it is, the convenience of being able to display totals over specified
date ranges through PWA doesn't instill a lot of confidence that the data is
accurate.

I hope MS addresses this situation soon. For now, I guess this type of
reporting needs to be done with an external app like SQL reporting services.

Does anyone out there know of an effective alternative?

Thanks for any and all opinions.

Hello,

I am having the exact same issue. I cannot provide data to anyone that I
have any sort of confidence in. When our employees hide tasks I cannot
export their data. Is there anyway around this. Has anyone found a solution?
