Hiding Columns causes "Cannot shft objects off sheet" message.

I am receiving an error message "Cannot shift objects off
sheet" when trying to hide column. I searched Microsoft
knowlede base and the resolution listed there doesn't fix
problem. The spreadsheet is acting as if i've reached a
limit of columns that i can hide. After hiding 26 columns
i start receiving the above mentioned error message.
