Is this possible in Excel? What I want to do is format INDIVIDUAL cells so that their contents are VISIBLE on the screen display but do not PRINT in the PRINTOUT.

You can't have it both ways at the same time :)

The simplest way I know of - although it can be time consuming to set up
depending on the number of cells - is to select those you don't want to
print & change the font color to white. Do the print job then Undo the font
change.

If you expect to have to do this more than once you can select all the cells
and name the range. From then on you can select the range by name & even
automate the whole process with a macro in 2004.

Hi,

I would think a simple macro that formats the cells to either white type
or to format ;;; would do the job.

A variant of that method involves the use of conditional formatting,
assuming you haven't already use it on the cells to hide.

Define a master cell that would contain the condition for hiding the cells
for the print out. You could perhaps define this master cell as a range
named WhitePrint. Then for each one of the cells to hide, create a
conditional format that says Formula is: =WhitePrint. Set the font to white
color, and you're done. Enter TRUE in WhitePrint to hide, clear the cell to
show. The beauty of it is that WhitePrint could also contain a formula to
generate TRUE or FALSE.
