hiding information without locking rows

Hello Everyone,

I have a protected worksheet (in Excel 2003) with locked and hidden rows
with sensitive information. I need to be able to filter the columns without
displaying this sensitive data. Is there any way to have, for instance,
XXXXXXX instead of the actual data for the general users, whereas those who
know the password would be able to see the actual information. Thank you very
much.

Well, you are in an Excel for Macintosh group, but I'm afraid the answer is
the same. Hiding rows and columns and protecting sheets works about the same
in all versions of Excel, and as you found out can not do what you are
asking. Your best bet is to try to rearrange the application so the stuff
that needs to be hidden is on another worksheet or workbook that can remain
hidden.
