My client wants to hide the resource's rates that are currently available to
anyone who can add them to the project team (Via the Details button).
Does such an option even excist?

It is not possible to hide resource rates in Project Server. Therefore, we
recommend that you do not use actual salaries in the Enterprise Resource
Pool. Instead, use a blended or averaged rate for resources in teams,
departments, or the entire organization. Hope this helps.

I have seen this post in google, this addresses rates security as well,
AFAIC:

We are close to completing the development on our Enterprise Project
Management (EPM) solution based on MS Project Server and PWA. We are
starting our corporate rollout in early 2005.

We ran directly into this issue of the five rate limitation in MS
Project - discovered during our beta testing/training phase. About 20%
of our employees have more than five hourly rates used within one fiscal
year.

At first, we thought we had an unsolvable issue. We looked at 'EPK
Group' (http://www.epkgroup.com/) as we were told this would solve the
problem. However, it seemed to be a case of the cure being worse than
the disease. We simply lost way too much functionality in MS Project
and PWA in solving the rate limitation. There was no way our user
community was going to go for it.

Eventually, Microsoft was able to put us in touch with one of it's
partner companies called 'Bogdanov and Associates '
(http://www.bogdanov-associates-.com/eng.asp). There is a page on their
site that specifically addresses the issue.

Bottom line, we have acquired the software, installed it, and so far
it's tested out perfectly. We just have to make some adjustments in
our procedures and training materials to utilize the EPM system
optimally.

Hope this helps.

What project from that firm did you use? I can't seem t find it, but it
looks like the portfolio analyzer extender might be of use in other areas.

thanks,

Ryan
