Hiding Resource Cost

Lee

I have project plans that several people can update. I would like them to be
able to assign tasks and update the project but not see what the resource
cost is. I do not want peole to see what others are making.

Any way to do this?

The simple way to do it is to open each project and do the following:

1. Click View - Resource Sheet
2. Select the column headers of the Std. Rate, Ovt. Rate, and Cost/Use
columns
3. Click Edit - Hide Column
4. Click View - Gantt Chart
5. Save the project and distribute it to the interested parties

Do know this, however: if any of these interested parties applies the
Resource Sheet view and accidentally double-clicks on a resource name, the
Cost information for that resource will be visible on the Costs page of the
Resource Information dialog box. Hope this helps.

Good suggestion. I often suggest to my classes that the most accurate way
to track costs is to use a burdened labour cost such as you're describing,
preferably the same standard costs that are used for staff budget planning
in general, so the project's costing is consistent with the rest of the
organization's financial reporting.
