Hiding sub-form field

I have a sub-form which is displayed as a datasheet. one
of the fields on the form is the record id which is the
link to the master form. I cannot get this field to not
show when the form is displayed as a sub form.
I have tried everything, including making it not visible,
but it always shows up. How do I hide it???
