hiding word

My wife and I are both having an interesting problem with Word X (we
both also have Panther; I use a Pismo G3 PowerBook and she uses a 12"
G4 PowerBook). If we hide Word, it often doesn't come back when we try
to foreground it again. Word's menu bar appears, but that's about it
-- the document(s) and toolbars are all hidden, the menus don't drop
down, and it's unclear whether key commands are accepted. The only way
out appears to be to Force Quit.

The obvious work-around is not to hide Word, but this is not a great
solution (besides, hiding apps is a tough habit to break). Anybody
else seen this, and have a better solution to offer? Thanks.

Are you completely updated?
Run through the standard troubleshooting suggestions that you will find
here:

I have had the same problem with Word failing to 'un-hide". I just
examined your posting--have you found a solution?

Dayo,

I'm completely updated and I continue to have the same problem--namely
that Word fails to 'un-hide'. I'm running Word v.X (Office v.X) fully
updated to 10.1.6, running under OS X 10.3.7
Any suggestions?

That was a long time ago, so I don't see your original post. However,
usually, consistently occurring problems respond to one of the standard
troubleshooting methods, listed here:

Sorry: the previous post has expired from the server. Please provide full
details of the problem you are experiencing.

I suspect it's a "Haxie", a program not made by Apple or Microsoft that
changes the way your computer behaves.

But until I learn what the problem is that you are having, I have no idea
what to suggest.
