High CPU usage when using Word 2007 templates

I've recently converted all company templates to the Word 2007 format and it
appeared to go without a hitch. However, users are now reporting that Word
becomes incredibly slow when typing into new documents created from these
templates. Basically Word starts using 100% of the CPU and any text entered
takes more than a few seconds to appear on the screen.

The current workaround is to save the documents created from the templates
as Word 2003 files, but this isn't ideal as all company documents should be
saved as Word 2007 files. I have tried running Word in safe mode and turning
off various options, but have yet to find a way to stop the high CPU usage
caused by these templates. I've confirmed that it is just the converted
templates, as any new templates work fine. The problem also goes away when
the templates are converted back to the Word 2003 format again.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try disabling your AntiVirus and see if that's it...

I have disabled AntiVirus and can confirm that this is not the issue, so
there must be something else causing it.
