Highlight Hotkey

Hi,

I want to be able to use a hotkey (rather than my mouse) to highlight
items within Word. Can someone explain to me how to create such a
macro?

You don't need a macro, you just need to assign the Highlight command to a
hotkey. See
http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customization/AsgnCmdOrMacroToHotkey.htm. The
command you want is the Highlight command in the All Commands category.
