Highlighting selected text in OneNote

In OneNote, I'd like to be able to select a word or block of text and then
click on Highlight and have it highlighted automatically (and neatly). The
present approach of applying highlighting as if by using a highlight pen
controlled by my mouse results in, with my unsteady control of the mouse, in
a very messy result.

With other programs, one can highlight a word, sentence, or paragraph simply
by first selecting it and then clicking on a highlight icon. Presto. It's
done. Neatly!

Wish OneNote would do this.

Guessing that you're not on a Tablet PC, just double-click the word or
drag-select the words or sentence you want highlighted, and then - with your
selection picked - click the Highlight button. The system automatically
will do the highlighting, neatly, for you.

It works the same on a laptop, at least with sp1.

Chris (and Diane)

Thanks for setting me straight. You know, I tried this, however, multiple
times and it would not work. But then I somehow discovered that there was
supposed to be an icon for highlighting, but it wasn't showing on my screen.
I was clicking on the yellow highlighter pen, instead. And that didn't work.
Once I kept looking for something else, I finally got a highlighter icon to
show up. And now it works just like I had originally expected it to work.
Don't know why that icon wasn't there initially, but now it is, so my problem
is solved. Thank you.

Good for you, Mike. Hard to tell from here if you've got all the icons on
the Toolbar.
