HIGHLIGHTING SENTENCES IN WORD

In the past, I could highlight an entire sentence by holding down
the option key and clicking on a sentence. To highlight the next
sentence, I would continue to hold the option key and just click
that new sentence. Why is it that I must now place the cursor
elsewhere FIRST (inbetween highlighting one sentence to the
next).

I don't really understand your problem, as I have not seen the behavior you
used to have, but....

I just tested something and command-click gives me that behavior (the apple
key, not the option key). (in OS 9.2.2, Word 2001)

Give OS and Office version details if you need more help.

By the way, F8 three times will select a sentence. (4x for paragraph, 5x
for section, 2x for a word).
