Highlighting text between > and < symbols

In Word 98 you could save a file as TEXT ONLY, then hit the SHOW INVISIBLES
key and it would show the text as one big unformatted paragraph, and
highlight all text between < and >.

How do I make this happen in Office Word 2004?

Why would you want to?

Where did the < and > come from in this process?

Does File | Save As , set the Format to Text Only not do this for you?

You might try File | Open, with Format set to Recover Text from Any File, as
that properly messes up a document. Be sure to unset the Format after,
though, as otherwise it will stick.
