highlighting text

[Teenage Computer Nerd]

i've got this big history project to do for school, my office word xp pro
continually changes the format of my text.
when i highlight the whole document to change it back it crashes whilst
changing. from then on, i've had to change the whole lot 6 words at a time.

i've tried downloading SP3, that didn't help, i've checked for viruses, i'm
not overloading the ram or anything.

please help soon!

From a fresh reboot, check in Documents and Settings, Username, Local
Settings, Temp folder to make sure it is empty. If it isn't, delete all the
abandoned contents. It should be empty until you open an application. When
you close the application, the temp files should clear. If you suffer a
crash, the temp files become abandoned.

Open Word and use Format, Style and make sure that the Automatically Update
check box is cleared. See

i know about both of those but they don't help, it's something wrong with the
program.
