I'd like to highlight a portion of a map during a presentation and it is an
irregular shape. Any suggestions? Thanks..Ed

Your best bet is to edit the map and make that area a different/highlighting
color. Then have a second slide immediately after it with the map in the
identical location. When you click to the next slide, it will appear that
that area of the map has been highlighted since it is the only portion
changed.

Edrod,

In that case you will need a map that is 'editable'. Then you can select the
bit you want to highlight (e.g. a country or state) and change the color in
powerpoint. If you don't have a map that is editable in powerpoint (e.g.
it's a picture/scan), then you will need to edit the picture in something
like photoshop (or other pixel basher). to create two versions of the map
(one with highlights and one without)

Then my question should've been, how do I highlight using Powerpoint? How do
I make one map a differrent color? What I did was use a scanned pic as
background then put buttons on it so that one can go to slides depicting that
area (eg. a park, museum, school etc.) The Actual map ecompasses more than one
neighbrhood. I want to focus on just one.

You could try tracing over the scan, of the area you want to highlight,
using the 'polygon' tools in powerpoint.

autoshapes > lines > freeform (on the drawing toolbar)
