Hit Counter-Incrementing by 2 or 3

B

Burger23

My hit counter is incrementing up by 2 or 3 (or more). In other words, the
counter says 15. After a refresh, it jumps to 17 or 18. Another refresh up
another 2 or 3 to 20 or 21.

I have uninstalled the hit counter and then inserted it again. While on the
website, I am accessing Frontapge through the File->Edit with Microsoft
Frontpage.

Ideas?

Thanks...

Are other people viewing the page.
If two people have viewed the page since you last refreshed, the counter
will increment by three.

If that's not the case, post a link to the page.

Thanks, Steve-- no one else is looking at the page- I am simply hitting
refresh to get this response. Counter is about 1/4 down the page- just above
section titled PRIOR TOURNAMENT COMPLETE RFESULTS

And if he wants someone to look at it, he'll need to remove this...
<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="[0];url=http://www.msn.com">

This is almost as annoying as people who ask for help who have the
no-right-click script going on.

You're referencing an html page as your custom hit counter image.
src="../_vti_bin/fpcount.exe/?Page=NCAA/index.htm|Custom=index.html"

Remove the hit counter. Save the page.
Reinsert the hit counter, but do not set anything as the custom image,
unless you have a custom .gif image you want to use.

If you want to create a custom image, here's a tool that will do it for you.

I see the Meta Refresh in the code, but it isn't working for me (IE 6.0)
which is a good thing :)

There isn't any "No Right Click" as far as I can see, as I can right click
and select "view source" as normal.

The OP's original link as below gives an error - the .com was omitted.

I just notice something on your page that could be the reason for the
counter problem you're experiencing. You have *two* counters on your page.

One where you said it is, and the other (showing a 'missing image - red "X")
is just above the "Grady's Sold!" Headline.

Get rid of this and see if it makes any difference to the working counter.

Why you'd have two counters on the one page is the question. .....??

Thanks, Steve.

First-- I apologize for not including the .com in my web page address.
Careless mistake.

Second- I removed the msn meta tag

Third- I followed your instructions below. it did no good. But, I then
searched the code for "hit counter." I found an old refernce. I then removed
it also. Saved everything. Then put hit counter back in. Problem appears to
be fixed. The double refernce to hit counter was definitely confusing the
issue :)

Anyone interested in participatong in the NCAA pool, follow the instructions
