Hit counter on .pdf pages

We have some documents on our website in .pdf format. One of our directors
wants to know how many time these documents are viewed. Is it possible to
put a hit counter on a .pdf document? I couldn't figure out how to do it
since they are not "real" web pages. Thanks in advance.

No.

However, the server logs should have a count of how many times they are "requested" from the server.
Also, you can use a cgi redirect script to keep track.
There's a free one at AnalogX here:

Sorry...using FP 2000. I searched this newsgroup but didn't find anything
like this questions.

Thanks to both of you for your quick replies. I'll have to take a look at
the redirect script you mentioned.

no, but you can count how many times the *link* to the PDF file is clicked
(comes down to the same thing).

Search for "Download counters" or similar in Google.
