Hit counter problem

I'm sure this has been addressed, I just don't see it.

Connecting to the site, www.mcdonaldservices.com increments the home page
counter fine.

Moving to another page and then back to the home page. causes the counter to
increment again if the 'Home' button is used. The browser 'Back' button
doesn't cause the counter to increment.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Doug Sanders

You are using a Hit counter - every time the page is downloaded from
the server the counter will increment.
Using the Back button loads the page from computer memory, getting the
page from any other means (Home button, typing in the link, etc) loads
from the server. An exception to this is when the browser is set to
load from the browser Cache if the page is in the cache, without
interrogating the server for updated data - then the server never
knows of the request and the hit counter does not record the page
load.

Thanks for the information. I may have a work -around.

How can I display the hit count from one page on another?

By adding a splash page in front of the home page and counting it's hits but
displaying that number on the home page would be ideal.

Any help would be appreciated.

No
PS
They are worthless counters - check w/ your host on their real logs
