Hit Counter Question

R

Ruteger

How can I make the hit counter to *not* increment when a user navigates back
to index.html after intially accessing the site? In other words, I only want
the counter to increment on first load...

Thanks,

Ruteger

You can't. That's the way the hit counter works.

It's a "hit" counter (every time the page loads) rather than a "visit" (as
in "unique visit") counter. You can get these, just do a 'net search.
Normally it's a matter of adding a line of code to your web. See if your
host provides a counter as part of your hosting account - in your control
panel, you should have something like that - "Cpanel" does.

I have a similar problem, I have a hit counter in a framed page which is
incrementing by two every time the page is opened
the url in question is
http://survey-branch-rea.co.uk
I had previously used a counter from amazing counters but the advertising
was not wanted by others. Is it due to the frames?

BTW I was unable to start a new topic as I wished to do.
