Hit Counter

Using FrontPage 2000, I have been attempting to add a hit
counter to my web page, but when I view it in Preview,
all I see is [Hit Counter]. When I upload it to my isp
and view the page using IE, again all I see is [Hit
Counter]. What am I doing wrong or what file(s) am I
missing to properly display the hit counter's value?

Frontpage Extensions capability to my isp where my web
page files are located? And if I can, what files should
I upload?
