Hmmm... Keystroke ceases to be

So I finally managed to get back to English (US) as my default, and
reconstruct my Toolbar just the way I want it.

Only now I discover the keystrokes I used to navigate to the top or the
bottom of a document no longer work.

I don't know what they're called on an English physical keyboard (I Use
a FRench Canadian one), but I'm pretty sure the bottom of the document
key is called "End." (It's "Fin"on mine).

It's not a huge deal, but I am in the habit of using those two keys --
and they still work in other apps.

I looked under Customize Keyboard, but couldn't see an obvious command
for Go To Beginning of Document or Go To End of Document.

All input welcome. TIA.

On a US keyboard the navigation keys you're referring to are Home
(beginning or top of...) & End (end or bottom of ...). However, those keys
by themselves pertain to beginning or end of *line* - use either the Command
or Option key with them to go to beginning or end of *document*.

Thanks -- that works!

Either I had a brain fart and forgot I had to use modifier keys, or else
this is some kind of new behavio(u)r on the part ofmy KB.

I suspect the former, but will proclaim the latter!

Actually I'm pretty sure where my confusion arose: I also use a program
called Movie Magic Screenwriter 2000 -- and that doesn't need the
modifier keys.

Keycue, peut-etre? Works in all Mac applications. ($19.95).

And it lets you see your customized keyboard shortcuts in addition to the
default ones provided by the application, provided the commands with custom
shortcuts are in the menu bar.

PS: What does "M" stand for? You now qualify for frequent flyer points in
this NG and it's better with "real" names, even if made up...

Hi Matthew,

I can't remember offhand but did you customize one of the built-in toolbars
or did you start from scratch with your own custom toolbar? The latter is
definitely preferable since it can be recovered and transferred if your
current Normal template gets corrupted. If you've customized a built-in
toolbar and this happens, you're out of luck; you can't recover it.
