Holiday Control Sheet!

We currently use an Excel Spreadsheet to keep track of Holiday/Leave etc.

I want to be able to create a leave request form that a) updates the data
source with the amount of days requested and b) displays in the form the
amount of days remaining!

I do not mind what the data source is, i.e. I am happy to transfer it to a
custom list or something like that but really not sure how to link the 2
together.

I am aware of the formulas that you can add to the Infopath fields but just
a bit stuck.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
