Found subject software at vendor under two product codes: 79G-00007 and
79G-00647. Both sell for the same price. What is the difference between them?
Am buying for the product key so can convert my daughter's trial version on
her new laptop. Also want her to have CD in case reinstall necessary.

Hard to say without knowing the vendor and what *their* product codes mean.
Contact the vendor.

A simple Google search on the codes revealed that the 007 code belongs to
Home and Student '07 with these specifications:

Main Features

• Complete package
• 3 PC in one household
• non-commercial
• CD
• Win
• English

My comments: This would be the retail package which includes a CD and
installing on up to 3 computers (in the same household.) This is the
version you want.

A search on 647 code revealed:

Main Features

• License
• 1 PC
• OEM
• non-commercial
• MLK
• Win
• English

MICROSOFT MEDIALESS LICENSE KIT (MLK)

My comments: This would be for a manufacturer installed version of H & S
that can be a trial version and this key converts the specific trial
software. This is also OEM and the license can not be transferred later to
another computer. YOU DO NOT WANT TO PURCHASE THIS VERSION.
