I'd like to create a list of all my home contents with a photo of each item for insurance purposes. How do I do this using Excel? Has anyone created a template for this?

Excel is probably not the most desirable program to do this, because photos
cannot be inserted into cells (they float above), so any modification of row
height or column width will throw off the relation between data and picture.

Alternatives: a real database program like FileMaker, or even iPhoto if the
descriptive data can all be put in the keywords field. Search also with the
word Inventory on Macupdate.com.

Additional options to what JL suggested - not necessarily "better" ones :)

Create a PPT presentation with each photo & descriptive info on a separate
slide, or

Create a Table in a Word document where - unlike PPT - you can insert the
images in a cell on the same row as the cell(s) containing the descriptive
information. Depending on the number of images & your knowledge of Word
tables it might be a little tricky.
