home.html is renamed index.htm when publishing

I have split my site and I want the main home page to be called home.html so
I can use a php script to direct visitors to either the main site or the
subsite. I have renamed my home page home.html in FP 2003 and recalculated
the hyperlinks but every time I publish the site (through FP) it renames the
home page to index.html but all of the HOME links on sub pages still point to
home.html

Is there anything I can do to stop this?

Thanks

Your web host need to set index.php as the first document in the default document list for your
account.

Thanks THomas, but my web host gave me the php script and advised me to
change my home page to home.html so I'm a bit stuck

You can still keep the file named "home.html" however you need to have index.php as the first
default document in the default document list for your site. This requires the host to set it as the
default and for you to have a copy in your local web.

You host should

index.php is the default page so long as index.htm/index.html doesn't exist
on the site.

If I have my home page named home.htm the index.php script works fine, it is
just that FP won't let me do that. If I name my home page home.htm then
publish, FP deletes home.htm from the server side (home_files/filelist.xml
and image001.gif) then gives the message "publishing home page as index.html
creating new xml & gif files to match.

Am I missing something?

Create a subweb / subsite and then publish your web current content to and then have index.php in
the root web point to the subweb with your content, then you can leave the home page in the subweb
named index.htm.

You have what is called a cluster
- a folder and associated files linked to a page being managed as a pair
(the cluster folder home_files is hidden by FP, but managed by FP)
The cluster is created when you create a file outside of FP, and then copy it into a FP site
(in say MS word or when you save a page from your browser that has images, etc)

The folder home_files is being renamed to match the forced renaming of home.htm because FP does not see a valid home page file in
the site
- try creating an empty index.htm file in your site, you can include a redirect in it to index.php
(if your host has index.php as the top level home page, the index.htm will be ignored)

Or Delete Home.htm from your site (FP will also delete the associated cluster folder home_files)
- recreate home.htm in your site, but don't copy the old version w/ the cluster back it to the site
