Home network

I have a G4 tower running system 9.2, and a G4 powerbook running OS
10.2. I've got Office X on the powerbook and Office 2001 on the
tower.

I want to upgrade the tower to OS X, and I have a small home network,
but I'm afraid that Office X won't "run" when we are networked (Office
2001 didn't). I've read that MSFT is going to allow multiple home
users on Office X, but searching here, the Mactopia site, and waiting
on hold at MSFT for 50 minutes got me nowhere.

Can anyone help me figure out if I need a license to run it on both
machines, how I get it, costs etc...or if it will let me run both
without that.

Thanks....direct e-mail is (e-mail address removed)

You do need one license per Mac on your local network. The license
agreement says that you are allowed to install Office on one desktop and
one laptop providing you are not using Office on both machines at the
same time.

And how would I go about getting that second licenes? Is it the same
price as a full blown copy of the program? I can't find anything
helpful on the Microsoft site, and I was on hold another 25 minutes
today trying to get an answer before I gave up...

Thanks.

Yep. Volume license discounts aren't available for less than 5
licenses. You might send feedback to MS if you're interested in
seeing a cheaper alternative. Make sure you're clear and logical -
why it would increase MS's revenue (for instance, perhaps you'd buy
an add-on license for $X, but live with only one at full price).
