Horizontal and vertical data

I am using Excel 2007. My graph doesn't display the years (2003, 2004, 2005
....) on horizontal line. It shows 1,2,3 ...How do I set excel to show years
at the bottom bar (horizontal)?

Thanks,

If you've typed the years normally they're being interpreted by the charting
engine as Values, not as labels. If you look closely you'll see the years
being plotted as columns/bars/whatever in the plot area of the chart. You'll
need to modify the Chart's Source Data to indicate which cells actually
contain the labels.

BTW, this is the Mac Excel group. I don't have 2007 running right now but if
you need more specific instructions you can access the PC Excel groups from:

What type of chart are you using?

If it's a line chart, you'll need to Format Series, and select the label
range.

If it's an XY scatter chart, make sure the years aren't entered as Text.
