Horizontal Ruler has vanished. How do I get it back?

The Horizontal Ruler is gone and I don't know how to get it back. I tried the
"detect an repair" function, but that didn't bring it back. I checked in the
toolbar, if it was hiding somewhere by moving the toolbars around, and no
it's not there.

Click VIEW in the menu and then click RULER to redisplay your horizontal ruler.
