Host no longer supporting Frontpage extensions. Options?

I do web sites with Frontpage, no longer supported by MS. Host company will
no longer support FP extensions. What are my options? Will Sharepoint
Designer seamlessly import my FP webs? Will others like Dreamweaver? I
really don't want to re-design from scratch with new software!!!

FrontPage is still supported by Microsoft. It's possible that your hosting
company has decided to stop supporting the FrontPage Server Extensions. Is
your site hosted at 1and1.com?

Yes, I have 2 of my sites and 4 client sites at 1&1, not sure what's going to
happen when they stop on 2/19 (not much notice!). They said MS was no longer
supporting FP and FP extensions wouldn't be compatible with their new server,
etc. I'm not sure how to proceed, new software, switch hosting.

Any advise would be appreciated. If most hosting companies aren't
supporting FP extensions, I'll have no choice but to switch software but
haven't had time to research. Are there any out there that will be able to
convert my Frontpage webs without a lot of problems?

Jennifer:
Microsoft is still supporting FrontPage and the FrontPage Server Extensions
on Windows Servers.

If you want to switch to a new hosting company, instead of switching your
software, I've checked some Web Hosting links I have bookmarked - these say
they support FrontPage Server Extensions:

There are 2 types of FP Server Extensions
The ones being used on YOUR site at 1& 1 are the linux variant. These are
the ones no longer supported by MS.
The other version is for Windows Server, and they will be supported for a
few years at least

You can switch your account at 1& 1 to use a Windows Server, but from what I
have read they are not the best at Windows hosting

Even without the FP extensions on the server, you can still continue to use FP, just don't use any
of the features that requires the extensions.

This is an example of a good reason not to use FrontPage (or any other
secondary program) but program directly in HTML and CSS. However, I
hope you can quickly transfer the sites to a host that still support
extensions.

Your web host would have to provide a server-side script or you would have to write one based on
what is supported by your web host.

2. Uploading the same pages using FrontPage 2000.

You would have to use FTP, suggest you try it via FP first (ftp://ftp.yourdomain.com, then if it
doesn't work switch to a 3rd party FTP application.
