Hotfix 835704

Sarah

I have a problem with trying to load a powerpoint
presentation from a web page. I am using Office 2003.
When I did a search on support.microsoft.com it referred
me to a hotfix 835704, but I can't find it to download
it. I don't want to give my credit card number to be able
to call them. How can I find this hotfix without using a
credit card.

Thank you for your help

The KB article says that the hotfix is required to fix your problem. They
take your credit card number but they do not charge you if you only ask for
the hotfix. If you start asking questions about other problems, then your
credit card will be charged as you are asking for assistance with something
other than the hotfix.

I am amazed that people do not want to spend $35 for Product Support
Services yet they will call a local computer guru who charges ~$50 an hour.
Microsoft support is for the *incident*, no matter how long it takes to fix
the issue. You are getting a bargain here, folks.

I don't pay the local computer guru $50 either, I fix it
myself. I already know the fix - I am trying to find out
how to download it without giving out my credit card
number, which I don't give out unless I know I'm buying
something.

If it isn't available as a download, then I'll go back to
my Office 2000, which is what I used (and worked) before
I upgraded to 2003.

It is available as a download and PSS will give you the link. If you choose
not to go through PSS, then you have already stated your option.

Hi Sarah,

The way you can obtain it without giving out your credit card number
is to call the number provided, 800-936-4900, and tell them you are
calling in regards to the Hotfix described in KB35704?

I've contacted Microsoft several times for Hotfixes and they have
never asked for a credit card number.
