hotmail stopped working

Hi,
I have had a hotmail.com account for years and it has always worked on
Outlook. Today it has decided to stop working and pop up asking for my
username and password. I put them in (Knowing they work because I can still
log on via the website) but it keeps popping back up and I can't use Outlook
anymore.

Have Hotmail suddenly stopped all older accounts from working in Outlook
without telling anybody?

Is it a free Hotmail account? Microsoft has been eliminating WebDAV (http)
access to free Hotmail accounts since September 2004. SOme accounts (old
like yours) retained the WebDAV connection ability, but Microsoft has been
eliminating them as well. Perhaps the time had come for yours. They now
provide the Outlook Connector (free Microsoft download) for use with free
Hotmail accounts. You need Outlook 2003 or 2007 to use the Connector.
